Epic Narrative

Panembahan Wonokromo

An epic of migration, knowledge, lineage, and power without a crown in the land of Jawadwipa.

Synopsis

In an age when power was built upon fear and blood, a family chose to leave their homeland in order to save a lineage hunted by the ruler. Under the cover of night and the threat of death, they crossed a vast sea toward a distant land in the east — a fertile realm known as Jawadwipa.

In this new land, they did not arrive as conquerors. They lived among the native people, concealed the traces of their past, and preserved an inheritance that could not be erased by time or power.

Centuries later, from that nearly forgotten bloodline, a child was born: Jati Pamungkas.

From a young age, Jati Pamungkas showed a deep devotion to knowledge, wisdom, strategy, and the nature of human life. With tireless discipline, he wandered in pursuit of many forms of learning, understood the character of men, and built influence not through fear, but through dignity and the nobility of his character.

Gradually, his influence grew from a small circle of families into a vast force reaching many territories of Jawadwipa. Without a crown, without a throne, and without great wars that sacrificed thousands of lives, his name came to be respected — and feared — by regional rulers.

The Kingdom of Kalingga later granted him the title Cakrabuana — a figure whose horizon of thought was believed to be as wide as the cosmos. Yet in later times, the world would remember him by another name:

Panembahan Wonokromo.
